The following is such a low thing to do by Speechify.com. I had to create a new category just to post about this mess. I feel like I’ve been scammed by them. Wasting my time and more…
I can’t believe how despicable the method they use to squeeze money out of peoples pockets are in this case.
What Speechify.com is all about is to provide text-to-speech services along with some special functions and features. No need to get into detail about everything here.
One feature they got is voice cloning with their AI technology. This sounds really cool, right?
So I decided to try it out and created a free account at their website.
But my interest in their bad service didn’t last long.
I finished the short & simple guide of what you had to do in order to clone your voice with their service.
Like first I had to record a 1 minute or longer audio sample when talking normally.
Then upload the audio file I just recorded to their website so their AI technology could begin to do its magic…
Here is more or less were my mood changed for the worse…
First, you had to agree with their Terms & Conditions before uploading your audio file.
Nothing especially weird with that, however I assume you legally give away all your rights and let them use your voice for whatever they want.
I was OK with that, because I wanted to play around with it. Making Text-to-Speech with my own voice! It just was something I really wanted to try out.
The problem is… The tiny little problem… is that you need to upgrade to a paid plan just to try to use your own voice!
I can upload my audio file and I also have to accept their terms and conditions Speechify.com got when it comes to the voice cloning.
And after that they tell me upgrade my account to a paid subscription to use my voice, which I probably just gave away all rights to. So Speechify can use it themselves.
They could have at least given me a couple of minutes of playtime with Text-to-Speech with my own fkn voice that I just gave you for free!
