Since you’re here I assume you’re one of many people that is having problems to get the Caustic 3 DAW to work on your Android phone.
Caustic haven’t been updated for a very long time and the developer doesn’t have any plans to make another version. The main problem if I understood it correctly is that most new phones is using 64 Bit CPUs instead of 32 Bit (Some phones do run both).
Another problem is that Android 14 have changed some requirements for apps (something like that) and the Caustic 3 Android app have been removed from the Google Play Store for a couple of months. This is something that was possible to bypass, but if you don’t have a CPU that support 32 Bit apps you wont be able to run it without a emulator that didn’t work smooth enough to make it usable last time I tried.
But all hope is not lost! There’s a guy that is working on a replacement/alternative for the Caustic 3 DAW. He have been working for months and he posts videos on YouTube about the progress.
His channel is called Saving Caustic on YouTube. Make sure to follow him and give his videos some likes.
This isn’t a small project, far from it.
It will take time before the first version is out, keep that in mind. He’s working for free(!) and will release the app for free and also as open source. Make sure to give him a donation if you feel that this is something you’re interested in as I’m sure it will motivate him in the development of this DAW.
If you really want to have something like Caustic on your phone, this is most likely your best bet since there is no other Android DAW that is as smooth and easy to work with as Caustic.
And I’m far from the only one that have looked and tried many other DAWs for Android.
Lots of users of Reddit for example have been posting about the issue. So there’s currently no good working replacement worthy to be called an alternative to Caustic.
