When you’ve been chatting with CHATGPT and the chat history gets rather long. It often makes the web browser slow and it starts to lag.
It doesn’t matter what browser you used. I’ve tried Firefox, Chrome and Opera.
All of them get the same problem.
Poor ChatGPT it tired :(
Since OpenAI doesn’t seem to care to fix this issue with large chats getting laggy, I came up with this solution instead.
You need to create a need chat and continue from there. But since ChatGPT won’t be able to grab all the current info from the old chat for some reason you need to do this:
Copy and post the text below in the old chat:
We need to resume this project in a new chat. My browser it getting too slow because of the size of the chat history.
Can you write instructions for yourself that I will post in the new chat so you will understand what we’re working on and where we are in the project?
Do you need anything more from me other than those instructions to be able to resume working on this project?
ChatGPT will give you some text you need to copy from the old chat into a fresh empty chat.
If you are working on a project and such, then you might have to send some files, like a ZIP with the instructions.
But that’s all you need to make ChatGPT stop being sluggish. It’s not a perfect fix, this is something OpenAI should’ve fixed for months ago. But since they don’t this is the best solution I’ve found so far.
