I asked a couple of AIs to help me optimize my qBitTorrent Advanced Preferences and it did seem to work.
Keep in mind that this is for my PCs specs, so only use these settings if you have somewhat similar hardware.
My PC Specs:
MOTHERBOARD: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2GHz 104MB,AM5,120W
GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB Pulse
RAM: Kingston 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30 FURY Beast Black EXPO
SSD: Corsair MP600 Elite PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe M.2 SSD - 2 TB
Advanced Settings in QBitTorrent
Ok, lets start with the Advanced Settings in QBitTorrent and the changes AIs suggested:
1: Physical memory (RAM) usage limit: 8192 MB – you have 64GB, so let qBitTorrent breathe
2: Save resume data interval: 30 min – your SSD is fast, but no need to write constantly
3: Save statistics interval: 5 min – fine to keep more frequent with an NVMe
4: Refresh interval: 500–1000 ms – your CPU can handle faster UI updates
5: Asynchronous I/O threads: 16 – matches your Ryzen 7’s 8 cores / 16 threads well
6: Hashing threads: 4 – good balance for your CPU
7: File pool size: 500 – your system can handle many open files easily
8: Outstanding memory when checking torrents: 256 MiB – safe bump given your RAM
9: Disk queue size: 8192 KiB – your MP600 NVMe will benefit from a larger queue
10: Disk IO type: Leave as Default, but you could try mmap for potentially better NVMe performance
11: Disk IO read mode: Enable OS cache – good choice, keep it
libtorrent / Connection Section
1: Outgoing connections per second: 30 – your connection and CPU can handle more
2: Socket send buffer size: 0 (system default) – fine to leave, Linux/Windows manages this well
3: Socket receive buffer size: 0 (system default) – same as above
4: Send buffer watermark: 4096 KiB – increase from 500 KiB for your fast connection
5: Send buffer low watermark: 512 KiB – bump up from 10 KiB
6: Send buffer watermark factor: 50%
7: Max concurrent HTTP announces: 50
8: Maximum outstanding requests to a single peer: 500
9: Upload slots behavior: Fixed slots
10: Upload choking algorithm: Fastest upload
If you’re using Public Torrent Trackers and have problems with a torrent because it lacks seeders.
Try to add more trackers to the torrent to look for more seeders and peers from other Torrent trackers.
If you go to “Connections” in Preferences, make sure you change the default port.
Just click on the Random button and click Apply and then OK.
Remember the new port number and login to your router and set up port forwarding to your computer so people can connect to your PC.
